I was diagnosed with a stage II triple negative breast cancer. For most women, being diagnosed with an aggressive cancer is horrible enough. For me, it was even more devastating because I was 4 months pregnant with my son, Mason.
For me, it was even more devastating because I was 4 months pregnant with my son, Mason.
I had two surgeries, countless tests, and four rounds of chemo – all while pregnant. After my son was born, my treatment continued with 12 more rounds of chemotherapy. Unfortunately my cancer had other plans. Only 1 hour after my last chemo treatment, I found out my cancer had returned. A few weeks later I underwent surgery and started the first of 12 more rounds of an even more aggressive chemotherapy for stage 4 cancer.
As I went in for my last chemotherapy treatment I learned, once again, that my cancer had returned for a 3rd time in 1 year. This time I underwent a radical mastectomy and 6 weeks of radiation. It has now been only 3 weeks since I finished my last radiation treatment on June 30th. I am still healing and recovering, but this time – there is no sign of cancer!
