Nancy’s Story

I was first diagnosed with breast cancer at age 39 in Los Angeles. I thought it was going to be the end of my life. At the time I was in a study for Ovarian cancer at Guilda Radner Cancer Detection Program when they found my breast cancer. I was in the study because of my family history. My mother died at age 60 of Ovarian Cancer and both of her sisters were diagnosed with Breast Cancer. One sister died and the other survived stage 4! My grandmother on my mother’s side also died of lymph cancer. So all the women on my mothers side had some sort of cancer. I walked through the surgery and 33 radiation treatments with the help of my faith, my family and my team of doctors at Cedars Sinai. I walked my first race for Susan Komen in Century City and have doing almost every year since. I love the Survivor Walk. My life is great today. I am well an I am working at Ron Jon Surf Shop as a buyer for the past 13 years. I still get checked 2 times a year due to my family history at Moffitt Cancer Center. I am proud to say I am a 20 year survivor! Thank you God.  ~ Nancy Taylor
