Race Information FAQs

When is the Race?
The 17th Annual Race for the Cure is on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Albert Whitted Park in beautiful downtown St. Petersburg, FL.  This year’s event will be our  first-ever night race! This event will occur rain or shine. We reserve the right to cancel in extreme circumstances. In that event, there will be no refunds; rather, your entry fee will be used as a donation to the Komen Florida Suncoast Race for the Cure.

Can I register as a participant the day of the Race?
Yes! Late registration will be available at the Race venue on the day of the Race.

What is the final date for individual registration?
Participants can register online through October 1, 2015. Or on-site on Race Day, October 3rd at Albert Whitted Park.

Where do I send donations and registration fees?
Please do not send cash; instead send checks or money orders. Our mailing address is as follows: Komen Florida Suncoast, P.O. Box 12848, St. Petersburg, FL 33701.

Are pets, inline skates, bikes, motorized scooters, or skateboards allowed at the Race?
For the safety of all participants, pets, inline skates, bikes, scooters, skateboards and pets are not allowed at the Race.

Are strollers and wheelchairs allowed on the Race course?
Yes, however for safety reasons we require that participants using them line up behind those who are running.

How do I run competitively in the Race?
We offer both a 10K competitive and 5K competitive course. You must register as a competitive runner in either the 5K or 10K to receive a timing chip for the Race.

How does a breast cancer survivor determine which group to walk with in the survivor ceremony?
An individual is considered a breast cancer survivor from the time of the breast cancer diagnosis. For example, someone diagnosed with breast cancer in July 2005 would be a 10-year breast cancer survivor at the time of the 2015 Florida Suncoast Race for the Cure in October.

Can we sell merchandise for fundraising on Race day?
Teams or individuals are not allowed to sell merchandise on Race day.

Who do we make the check payable to?
Please make all checks payable to: Susan G. Komen Florida Suncoast. On the check memo line, please include your name or your team name. If you would like to make a donation to someone else’s fundraising goal, please indicate their name in a separate piece of paper with the check so we can correctly route your donation.

What is the registration rate for children under Kids for the Cure?

Children 10 and under can register for Kids for the Cure for $10. Children and students older than 10 (up to college level) can register at a discount for $25 using the Students for the Cure participation type. Students must enter their school name and ID to qualify for this discount.

Should I bring money on Race Day?
Yes! We will be selling Komen merchandise and fun glow items at our Shop Komen tent. Our National Sponsor, New Balance, will be on-site with Komen branded New Balance merchandise as well.
